Role & Responsibilities

The Flash Designer is responsible for creating innovative interactive and animation designs for our medical content programming, such as promotional and educational videos, interactive training modules, 2D/3D motion design, and Websites. This position requires an ability to design impactful interactive programs that meet the marketing and strategic goals of our pharmaceutical clients.

Utilizing a combination of cutting-edge technical and exceptional design skills, as well as information architecture and user design experience, the Flash Designer creates interactive programs that effectively engage target audiences, communicating complex scientific and strategic information to various healthcare professionals, sales representatives, or client marketing teams.

 

The Flash Designer reports to the Creative Director.

 


Specific Responsibilities:

 

ú         Responsible for designing and developing interactive programs from concept to completion

ú         Creates storyboards and animating concepts at project initiation; refines interactive designs based on agency and client feedback; and develops approved concepts into finished projects

ú         Participates in kick-off, concepting, weekly status, new business, and other agency meetings, as needed

ú         Assists in developing and maintaining design and branding direction in the execution of design concepts

ú         Collaborates with other interactive designers and developers, depending on the needs of the project or department

ú         Ensures deliverables are completed efficiently, and that deadlines and client expectations are fully met

ú         Reports project status and issues on a regular basis to Creative Director and other agency teams

ú         Interfaces with agency teams to receive client information and feedback, and to resolve project-related issues as they arise

ú         Maintains the highest levels of quality control throughout the project duration, and actively provides quality assurances by reviewing files for overall technical quality and consistency

ú         Effectively manages files and assets using best practices for file naming, organization, and archiving

 

Professional Experience, Skills and Requirements

 

ú         Bachelors Degree and 4 to 6 years of experience required, including specific experience with pharmaceutical advertising or medical education agencies

ú         Must have a strong, diverse portfolio of Flash design work

ú         Strong layout, typography, motion graphic and interaction design skills, including experience with interface design, user experience design, and information architecture

ú         Experience designing for Tablet PC platforms (e.g., Flash-based training modules) would also be a plus

 

ú         Software Skills Required:

§         Expertise in Adobe Flash CS3/CS4, along with intermediate-level ActionScript 2.0/3.0 skills and the ability to collaborate with object-oriented programming developers

§         Intermediate knowledge of other Web-based languages and tools such as Dreamweaver, Fireworks, XHTML, XML, CSS, and , along with cross-browser/cross-platform development and testing

§         Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite CS3/CS4: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat 9.0 Professional (e.g., creating multimedia PDFs)

§         Previous video experience, video editing, and effects (After Effects, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or other software)

§         Audio recording and post-production skills (Sound Forge, Soundbooth, or other software)

§         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)


ú         Additional Software Skills Desired:

§         Medical illustration, animation, or 3D rendering (3ds Max, Maya, Papervision3D, or other software)

§         Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR), Flex, Web 2.0, or database development tools

ú         Fluent in agency process, including job routing procedures, to ensure quality control at all stages of the project

ú         Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to communicate interactive strategies, document technical specifications, explain technical information to various audiences, and provide timely status updates

ú         Significant knowledge of the planning milestones used in developing interactive and Web-based programs

ú         Must be highly skilled in time management to facilitate multiple simultaneous projects

ú         Must be detailed oriented and have a take-ownership attitude

ú         Must have the ability to work independently as well as to work within team-based settings
