Job Description The Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores intern program is based in our Store Support Center in Hudson, OH. Our internships are designed to encourage relationship building, participation, teamwork and diversity across the entire company. During the 10-week internship at Jo-Ann, you will acquire real-life career experience working with experts to learn about company and retail industry culture. In addition of obtaining a general operational knowledge of our business, you may develop professional relationships that will continue beyond your internship. Marketing Intern Role Summary/ Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Public Relations Intern will be to research retail charitable foundations and develop a plan which Jo-Ann can utilize to create a foundation of its own. Secondary responsibilities include work on annual fundraising campaign to benefit two local divisions of a national charitable organization and other public relations/special events projects as needed. Responsibilities: Research the various types of retail charitable foundations and document findings. Develop a strategy to create a Jo-Ann Foundation to include: Define the function(s) of the Foundation (intent and direction)Evaluate Jo-Ann vision and mission Establish measures of effectiveness Recommend board membership Identify ways to utilize public relations and marketing to advance goals Identify legal requirements and ongoing compliance needsTiming and steps needed to become a not-for-profit corporation, which qualifies as a tax-exempt charity under section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue CodeAssist in the planning and execution of annual Special Events Strategy.Help as needed in various marketing/corporate activities. Minimum 3.0 G.P.A. is required. MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Adobe Acrobat, Familiarity with graphic design programs is plus, Attention to detail, Timeline and deadline oriented, Ability to multi-task, Strong project management skills, Creativity, Strong people/verbal/written communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of the organization, Experience working within a fast-paced work environment and under deadline pressures, Ability to deal with changing priorities, Ability to influence without authority, Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Time Requirements and Pay: The length of this internship is 10 weeks. The internship program will run from June - August and pay $12.00/hr. Interns are required to work 40-hours/week.
