Legal Advocacy Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual (Spanish); Minimum of two years of higher education; counseling, legal, paralegal or legal assistant training preferred; Minimum of one year of successful experience in social service or legal setting; Demonstrated knowledge of womens issues, family law, court systems, crisis intervention and domestic violence; Valid California drivers license, proof of insurance, and reliable personal transportation; Ability to work nights and weekends as needed; Ability to relate well to a wide variety of individuals and lifestyles; Valid California drivers license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation; Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and data management; Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the YWCA the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism. FUNCTIONS: Provides legal advocacy services and counseling to victims of domestic violence; Manages financial performance of legal advocacy program within budgetary constraints; Maintains data on legal services and counseling. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides direct legal advocacy services including phone and peer counseling, court escort, and preparation of court orders and declarations; 2. Coordinates services with community and law enforcement agencies; 3. Maintains accurate records and confidential case files and provides statistical reports; 4. Monitors financial performance of legal advocacy programs, recommends budget, and manages programs within budgetary constraints; 5. Assists with implementation of new programming; 6. Maintains client and court correspondence and writes program reports; 7. Attends staff meetings and community events, as requested; 8. Performs other duties as requested.
